What is it?

KaraokeCallout is a game you play over a cell phone, where you challenge your friends to sing Beatles songs better than you.

How do I play?

Start up KaraokeCallout and select "Start Callout." The game will ask you to sing a song. Sing up to 10 seconds of the song and KaraokeCallout will rate how well you sang it. If you like how you did, then pick a friend on your contact list to challenge. Your friend will get a text message with the challenge to sing the song, along with instructions on how to run KaraokeCallout. When your challenge is answered, you will get a text message telling you who won.

What songs does KaraokeCallout know?

Right now, it only knows songs by the Beatles while they were still together (sorry, no Paul McCartney and Wings) ...but we'll be adding music on a regular basis.

What kind of phone and phone service do I need?

KaraokeCallout runs on Nokia S60 phones and has been tested on the Nokia 6682 and the Nokia N70.

Also, it is a good idea to have a monthly data plan with your cellphone service provider, since each time you sing to the phone, a recording is uploaded over the data network.

What do I install?

KaraokeCallout is written in Python. If you already have Python 1.3 for s60 on your Nokia phone, then you can downlad and install just KaraokeCallout istelf. If you don't have Python 1.3 or aren't sure what that even is, then pick the Karaoke Callout v1, with Python 1.3 bundle and everything will be installed for you.

Can I see some High Scores?

From the phone, you can see high scores for your location as well as most popular songs sung. Here are the current overall figures:
